video editor | motion designer
Video and Motion Design are my chosen mediums but storytelling is the art form that underpins everything I do.
I have worked in many industries, including at a circus where an elephant named Daisy ate my school tie. But that is a story for another camping trip. My journey in visual media began in graphic design and ventured into the fascinating and alluring world of television production, where I got to work on productions like Big Brother South Africa, Fear Factor, and All You Need is Love. These experiences were extraordinary on so many fronts but what I cherish most is the wonderful mish-mash of humans I got to connect with at both ends of the camera.
Working on high-end productions honed my skills in producing, shooting and editing top-quality visual content while the run-n-gun style ENG assignments taught me the importance of effective storytelling and making people comfortable with sharing their stories. Today’s social content landscape allows me to use incredible tools and channels to create and share a lot more. And this is what gets me up in the morning. This, and very good coffee.
Don't get me wrong I can still spend hours in an edit suite tweaking a graphic to find the perfect harmony between a font, a colour, a symphony, and the story they're embellishing. But at the end of the day it’s about finding the most efficient and effective way to tell the story so that it’s seen and shared by so many more.
It's the story I remember. It's the story that shapes my feelings. It's the story that reminds me that I am a part of the story.
Curiosity remains my greatest asset.
